Notice of Temporary Relocation of Church Services to the Edward King Chapel of Ripon College, Cuddesdon
As most people in the village will know, extensive restoration works are going on in the church and we have been finding it increasingly uncomfortable and cold to continue to worship there. The windows of the chancel have been removed for restoration and so there are draughts from temporary perspex replacement windows. These have also shifted because of exterior stonework to edges of windows and mullions. The stonework has produced a great deal of dust which has necessitated cleaning the church before every service. As further works proceed the situation is going to get more uncomfortable with yet more dust from replastering the walls and relaying the chancel floor and from the installation of a lavatory in the north transept. We are therefore very grateful to the Principal and to the Sisters for kindly inviting the congregation to make use of the Edward King Chapel during the rest of the church restoration works, which are, in fact, likely to go on into the New Year.
We are looking forward to being in the inspiring surroundings of the college chapel for a couple of months and, if you do not normally come to church, we hope that you will feel like joining us there at 9.30 every Sunday or 8.00 a.m. on first and third Sundays in the month.
On and after Sunday October 30th all our services will take place in the college chapel. Our usual pattern of services will be maintained.
