The new parish councillors are Chris Luke, Ken Meek and Arthur Smith-Fitchett. They join Tasha Turner and Michael Raynor who are staying on from the previous council. This means that there are two vacancies on the Parish Council and villagers are invited to fill these positions. If you are interested in being a councillor then please let me have something in writing about yourself by 15th June (to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Parish Council hopes to decide on filling the posts at the next meeting on 17th June, which all applicants are invited to attend.

It has been decided that items appearing on the Parish Council notice board should not be limited only to things relating to the Parish Council, so in future posters which are of general community interest will be allowed.

The Parish Council has recommended approval of the listed building consent for modifications at White Cottage in Denton (P15/S1313/LB) and has no strong views on the agricultural notification to build a barn at Denton Green Farm (P15/S0480/AG). The District Council has granted the planning application to build a two storey rear extension at 17 High Street (P15/S0163/HH) and has also granted the application for listed building consent to make internal modifications at Ripon College (P15/S0652/LB). This had previously been recommended for approval by the Parish Council

HMRC are thinking about no longer making landfill taxes available to be used as grants for local communities. We made use of one of these grants to pay for replacement of the play surfaces on the recreation ground, which would not have been affordable from our own funds. It would be a great shame if this source of funding is removed, particularly since the Parish Council has plans to make more improvements to the play area.
