There is a new planning application for the housing development at Dovehouse Farm (P17/S4413/FUL).

The arrangement of buildings is exactly as it was before in the application made in 2010, with a mixture of conversions and new buildings. However, the listed barn is going to be converted into a single residential property rather than being converted into offices. Also, there will be no affordable housing, since the total number of properties on the site will be nine, and the law now is that if there are fewer than ten properties in a development then affordable housing does not have to be included.

The Expressway Action Group has been given stakeholder status which means they are formally allowed to express their views about the route of the expressway. Highways England will be deciding the route and the Action Group had their first meeting with them in December at Ripon College. The EAG gave a presentation expressing their concerns about the possibility of the road running near our village and the River Thame Conservation Trust explained the wildlife impact risks. Representatives of the Oxford Green Belt Network and the Campaign to Protect Rural England were also present and they expressed their concerns.

The main news from the meeting was confirmation that it is intended to announce a decision on the preferred route by the summer of 2018. The EAG was very concerned about this timescale and that there was no intention to have a public enquiry with proper public scrutiny by an independent planning inspector. There is more about the expressway on the village website.

The District Council has granted the application at Denton House to change the location of the lift (P17/S3697/LB).

And finally thank you to Susannah for managing the mince pies at the carols round the Christmas tree.
