From the Parish Council Chairman - May 2025

If all has gone to plan then we will just have completed a village litter pick when you read this.

Apologies that this was organised somewhat hastily and that we were unable to get the date into the April Newsletter.

I hope everybody enjoyed Easter and is looking forward to the Fete on 10th May. It’s a brilliant community event and I want to thank Ripon College for continuing to host it and providing so many willing helpers to work alongside villagers each year.

Most of you will have heard that the Principal of the College, Bishop Humphrey, will be retiring at the end of the year. We are so pleased that he’s agreed to open the Fete and it seems entirely appropriate, since Humphrey and Emma have done so much to link the College and village communities. I want to thank them both for their contribution to Cuddesdon and Denton life over the last decade.

Last month we also had our Annual Parish Meeting and it was important to hear reports from all the different organisations in the parish. The time and effort that everyone gives, from the Village Hall committee to the WI, editing the Newsletter to curating our website, are what makes the community live and breathe.

On the Parish Council we have co-opted Dee Murray which means we are now back up to a full 7-member council. Many thanks to the other candidates that put their hand up to help the village.

We are still searching for a new Clerk so please contact the PC email if you’d like to know more about the role: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

I wish you all a very merry May.

Chris
