I hope everyone has enjoyed this summer.
I can’t quite fathom now whether it’s been too wet or too dry, as we never seem to get the right balance anymore. Either way, my lawn is brown, so definitely the wrong kind of rain.
Having been at home all summer, I’ve enjoyed the beauty of our little parish at this time of year, and I’ve occasionally worked from home with inspirational views across the fields. There’s something very special about having to go on mute during work calls because the cows are too loud.
Meanwhile, the pub is set to open again in the autumn and the new landlord, Ben, has written a little update in this newsletter. I wish him luck with all the work and restoration.
We have a new Parish Clerk starting, Dee, so I hope you will join me in welcoming her to the parish. After his 18 year stint, Mike is still keen to help the community and so has agreed to take on the Newsletter.
Many thanks to Therese for being our editor for more than a decade. She will continue to help Mike in sourcing front cover photos.
It’s sad to see Mark Chapman and Linda Collins leave the parish. We’ll miss them greatly but hope to see them reappearing at the fete from time to time.
Finally, I just want to touch on the Village Orchard. This is a brilliant project but is being held up by the lease agreement. I think we will get there, as there is goodwill amongst all the parties.
I wish everyone a good September.
Ohana
Chris
