It feels like a hectic month has passed with autumn setting in and a change of clerk on the Parish Council.
We actually ambushed Mike at the September meeting with a wonderful painting of the church by Nicko King, a voucher for some fine restaurants in Oxford and a compass to guide him on his walking holidays. Nicko’s painting is on the front of the Newsletter.
I didn’t embarrass Mike by asking him to open the presents in front of us all but he was deeply touched by this gesture from the village. Some of you may not know that Mike has been looking after the church clock in recent years and so Nicko’s painting will be a constant reminder of trips up the rickety staircase to keep the village on time.
Our new clerk, Dee, has been thrown into the deep end but luckily has all the patience, training and OALC support to help us on the PC. We hope she’ll enjoy working with us and the village in the coming years.
I look forward to the opening of the pub which may well happen before the next Newsletter – but you never know with builders. I hope everyone was encouraged by the new landlord’s message last month which laid out the renovation plans.
Bonfire Night will soon be upon us and you’ll see the 3rd November save the date in this Newsletter. The pub is hoping to supply some ale to go with the hot dogs! More to come on this.
I wish everyone a happy Oktoberfest.
Ohana,
Chris
